2015 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Prices are up!

Today Run Disney updated the registration prices for 2015.  For those who are thinking about registering, you’ll notice there is quite an increase over 2014 prices.  Dopey went from $495 to $530 and Goofy went from $320 to $360.  (does not include Active’s processing fees)

How do you feel about these prices increases?  Do you think it’s fair, or do you see this as price gouging?  Will you rethink your Run Disney race plans and opt out of a race challenge?  (Dopey/Goofy)

I’ve done a short poll below.  Would love your feedback.

  1. Dang, I’m out. That’s a big jump on prices. It’s not just Disney though, it seems like every race is getting more and more pricey. I’m really having to pick and choose now a days.

    • I have to wonder what the threshold will be. How far Disney can increase prices and still sell out in record times? I’m torn as to what we will decide. We may opt out of Dopey and just do Goofy. Two registrations, with active fees for Dopey is well over $1100. Depending on the currency exchange (something we have to consider), it’s become rich to say the least.

    • I agree that there’s been an increase in pricing for a lot of events. I miss living in New York City where I could run cheap NYCRUNS races.

The only thing that saves me with the runDisney races is that I live in Florida and I’m an annual pass holder to Disney so I can at least save some money on the hotel. Even with that though, it’s still getting expensive to run their races. I think I’m going to have to start picking and choosing more carefully now too.

      • Yeah, I actually decided this year to stick to local/smaller races. Prices are getting out of hand, and a lot of them are even ditching their charities and purely for profit. Good luck to you!

      • Yeah, I’ve been reading how many events don’t exactly give much to their charities. Yes they support them, but so many are only giving a pittance of the money being taken in. 😦
